Default Creating a different type of guild, would it work?

When guild less, I was always bothered by guild recruiters from everywhere and it has becoming an issue for me, why can't we just have a guild that is nothing but relaxed environment, where people just exchange ideas and get helps from other people with ease, with no gvg, ab or pve demands.

It will be a "quiet" guild in a sense, so players can concentrate on what they do without being bothered by the outside mess, I find that rather nice to be in.

Such guilds have been started. Everyone just goes off and does his own thing. Not the kinda guild I'd join, but yeah, it ain't a new idea.

my guild is like that.

there are absolutely no requirements to do anything (pve/pvp/ab/hoh)

you can come in do your own thing and not say a word, if you so chose.
you can offer to help people out when you get bored of farming/title seeking/etc..if you like.
you can ask for help on pretty much anything your heart desires, even if you "do your own thing" the majority of the time. And as long as people arent busy they will lend a hand.

basically the guild is a relaxed group of people who dont deal with the BS that most other guilds seem to impose on their members (and yes ive seen guild where you are required to give the leader and officers money etc so they can buy fow armor... WTF is that?)

so yes there are guilds out there like what your asking about. But i can assure you you wont see them posting recruitment spam or what not, as they are trying to avoid the guild hoppers and jerks that infest this game

Well, I'd say yes and no. Our guild is like that, and dang if I ever leave it to do "the same" solo.

If I had to guess, I'd say most people are in guilds like this. Join, help others, be helped, build your hall, have peeps to talk to, get/give advice, be quiet, be chatty, form groups for this or that, whatever.

If I understand correctly, the OP does not want total silence. They want a consistent group of people you talk to and get to know while playing, with no pressure to do any particular thing. Yes, friends' list can work that way, but I will not always go down my friends' list and say hello to every single one that's online. Neither do I expect them to do so.

I love logging on and saying "hello" to the guild and getting lots of "hellos" back. There is no substitute for that. Not to mention, I have made real-life friends from guild members, and I'm not sure that would have happened without the guild institution.
